PilotFish Technology XCS Dashboard

The XCS Dashboard is an optional application component that monitors the performance of the XCS eiPlatform.  The Dashboard enables users to view, trace, analyze, and report on transactional interfaces traversing the XCS eiPlatform.  Transactional errors can be captured, diagnosed, and restarted without requiring changes to the source or target systems participating in the interface.

In addition to its IT operations and performance management capability, the Dashboard provides a wealth of Business Intelligence data to business users.  That is because any of the data content traversing the XCS eiPlatform can be “tagged” and reported or graphically presented in real-time.  For example, the head of marketing could easily report on the volume of business received in the last hour.  Or, the head of compliance could report any financial transactions in excess of $10,000.  Historical data is also available for comparisons or trend analysis.

The Header Display provides a series of “gauges” to provide real-time reporting of the XCS eiPlatform performance.  Gauges include Memory Usage, Memory Usage History, errors in the Past Hour, Load History, and Transaction Load.

The body of the Dashboard organizes information by tabs.  Tabs include: Transaction History, Routes, Errors, Logging, Settings, and Administration.

The Transaction History Tab – Allows users to view transactions that are running or have run through the XCS eiPlatform.  Transactional data is presented in both charts and tabular views.  The user can view information in aggregate or “drill down” to a granular level of detail.  Time spans, transaction types, and transaction content can be used to filter information.

The Routes Tab – Allows users to view the Routes (or Interfaces) deployed to the XCS eiPlatform. Users may navigate to individual Routes / Interfaces and view how they are configured.  Advanced features of the Dashboard, including the ability to identify and extract Business Intelligence data is configured using this tab.

The Errors Tab – Allows users to view errors and warnings in the system from both analytical / statistical and tabular perspectives.  Users may view time-base aggregations of errors in the system, as well as canceling and restarting transactions that have previously failed.  Individual errors may be retrieved and analyzed on a per stage basis (i.e. Listener, Source Transform, Router, Target Transform, Transport) for an entire Route or Interface.

The Logging Tab – Allows users to view and configure logging settings for the XCS eiPlatform.  Users with the proper security credentials may download the entire XCS eiPlatform log file.

The Settings Tab – Allows users to configure information about the XCS eiPlatform and the Dashboard itself.  Technical users may see the filesystem locations of libraries currently loaded into and utilized by the XCS eiPlatform.  Advanced users may configure the underlying mechanisms of the Dashboard from its respective settings page, including the SQL queries used to poll the XCS eiPlatform’s database.  This allows users to dynamically change content generation to their preferences.

The Administration Tab – Allows authorized users to create, delete, and change the roles of other or new users.
