The XMLife Communications Suite (XCS) toolset was created to dramatically reduce the complexity, time and cost of deploying ACORD compliant applications and interfaces. XCS was first released in November of 2002 and since then, more than 100 companies have licensed it including primary carriers, reinsurers, third party providers and distributors. In fact, more than half of the top twenty-five primary carriers have licensed XCS.

Release XCS 3.03.R1 adds several powerful new features and capabilities to the XMLife Communications Suite (XCS) extending its already substantial lead in the marketplace. Two of the features are the XCS Database Upgrader and the XOSR Editor.

XCS Database Upgrader

The Database Upgrader facilitates the maintenance of ACORD-compliant databases by enabling in-place database upgrades as the standards evolve. New releases of the ACORD standard can be accommodated with just a few mouse-clicks. The Upgrader can report changes between schema versions, permitting informed management of extensions to the model.

XOSR Editor

A companion tool to the XCS Exporter, the XOSR Editor (XCS Output Structure Reference Editor) is a tree-based graphical user interface used to rapidly define TXLife and XMLife output profiles. TXLife and XMLife output can be defined in minutes as opposed to the weeks or months required to "hand code" ACORD standards compliant XML.

The new features complement the already comprehensive XCS toolset that includes:

· The XCS Database Generator - Creates an ACORD compliant database in any standard relational database.

· The XCS Parser - Reads and parses any ACORD compliant XML messages and updates a database.

· The XCS Exporter - Exports XMLife/TXLife compliant XML from the ACORD compliant database.

· The XCS API (Application Programmer's Interface) - A set of Java classes that allow developers to write custom applications.

PilotFish also offers several components for use by companies that have Service or Support agreements in effect with PilotFish. These include:

· The XCS Transformer - a runtime component that transforms data in various proprietary formats to and from ACORD-compliant XML. The Transformer can be used to manage and execute transformations between any two formats, using the ACORD data model as a mediator.

The XCS Transformer runtime component is deployed using two additional XCS design-time tools: The XCS File Format Specification Language (FFSL) and the XCS Data Mapper.

The XCS File Format Specification Language is an XML Schema for the definition of proprietary input and output formats that eliminates the need to develop tedious file parsing scripts.

The XCS Data Mapper -A graphical tool used to transform proprietary data formats to and from ACORD compliant XML.

· The XCS Router - An event routing schema customized to the specific needs of the recipient.
