The eiConsole and eiPlatform Support FTP Protocols Including FTP Over SSH, Plain Text FTP and FTP Over SSL
You get FTP Over SSL Transport support with the eiConsole and eiPlatform that offers support for a wide variety of FTP protocols. These include FTP over SSH, plain text FTP and FTP over SSL. As with all the components of the eiConsole, the user is presented with a graphical interface with easy to configure panels.
To configure an FTP Transport, you select the appropriate type from the Transport Type drop-down, typically this will be FTP.
On the Basic tab, enter in the Host name – the name of the FTP server that you wish to connect to. The Target directory configuration item is used to specify the remote directory where you will place the file. The Target file name configuration item is used to specify the name of the file that you placed on the remote FTP server. The Target file extension configuration item will contain the extension that you want to place on that Target file name. The FTP Transport will ensure that all files placed on the server are unique. In those cases where a file with a given file name and extension already exists, a number will be added to the Target file name to make it unique.
On the Credentials tab, you will configure the User name and Password used to connect to the FTP server. Enter the User name in the User name configuration item and the password in the Password configuration item.
On the Advanced tab, you can change the Port to be used to connect to the FTP server. This is defaulted to the FTP default of 21. The Timeout may also be specified. This is the Timeout that will be used when transferring a file or attempting to make a connection to the FTP. The Keep connection configuration item can be checked if you wish to keep the FTP connection alive in between invocations of this Transport.
